More Options for your Ceremony

Want to do something a little different for your wedding?

Here are some fun and meaningful rituals you can include in your ceremony. Whether it's something that reflects your culture, includes your guests, or just feels right for you both, there's no wrong way to celebrate your love.

Handfasting

This is a beautiful ritual where your hands are tied together with ribbons or cords, literally “tying the knot.” It’s an old Celtic tradition and a powerful way to show your bond.
You can have guests bring up different coloured ribbons, each one representing something special: your families, your journey, your future. Anyone can help tie the knot, and someone else can read a short blessing afterward.

Sand Ceremony

Pouring different coloured sands into one jar is a simple but powerful way to show your lives coming together. It’s often used in blended families too.
Each colour can represent a person or a part of your journey. Once the sands mix, they can’t be separated, just like your love. (Want a twist? Use M&Ms, Lego, or anything meaningful to you!)

Candle Ceremony

This one's all about light and love. You each light a small candle, then use them together to light a bigger one. It’s a sweet way to show you’re becoming one while still staying your awesome individual selves.
Tip: If you're outside, use a lantern or even light a fire pit for the same cozy feel.

Tree Planting

Want something symbolic and eco-friendly? Plant a tree together during your ceremony. As it grows, it’ll remind you of your relationship, rooted, growing, and strong.
It’s also a great way to celebrate new beginnings and seasons of love ahead.

Beer, Wine, or Cocktail Blend

Love a good drink? Make your own signature blend during the ceremony! Mix your favourite wine, cocktail, or even a beer. Share a sip and toast to your future.
Guests or family can join in, or you can just keep it between the two of you. You could even share a fun shot with everyone afterward!

Pets

Yes, you can totally include your dog in your ceremony—or at least in the photos.
If your pet's well-behaved in crowds, go for it. If not, a cute cardboard cutout or someone assigned to care for them might be a better (and calmer) option.

Time Capsule

Write letters to each other and pop them in a box with a bottle of wine. You can also ask guests to add their notes.
Seal it during the ceremony and open it on your 1st anniversary, it’ll be a lovely surprise and a reminder of how your story started.

Blessing of the Rings

Want everyone to be part of your moment? Pass your rings around before the ceremony.
Guests can hold them for a few seconds, silently sending their love, wishes, and good vibes your way. Your rings will carry not just your promises, but theirs too.
